I was interested in upgrading so I could use the phone app with my PC software. But, the software ended up being the biggest disappointment. I'm still having problems getting accounts synced up right. I think everything is right and happy syncing online, but i try to reconcile 'online' and I'm off by $80. Well, didn't my individual transactions sync?To start with, would I recommend this is Yes, if you have nothing, but No to an upgrade.I expected much better. In the app, my biggest problem is not being able to easily see what card I want to use (The name I give the card and not the default sometimes long confusing name of the card). The features of reconciling with purchases you enter with what syncs online is pretty good, but not always clear if it's around midnight. I suspect that problem might be due to the business.I'm still working with it and may end up loving it, but so far I just don't think it should be this hard.
Oct 25, 2017 - My main concern is my ability to download credit card transactions. The Office Depot price for 2 years would equate to $4.17 a month vs.
BTW - (Not kidding) I'm a systems analyst. What can I say? As a user of Quicken for over 6 years, I started when Microsoft stopped making their popular Money software.
I can say as usual my expectations far exceeded what I got. Quicken has succeeded in getting customers to open their wallets to buy an annual release when all that is added is mostly just a minor patch. The Good. 90% of what Quicken does can be done form almost any Banks online banking website. The only thing quicken adds is the ability to do it all in one place. It does offer a smart phone app which it underwhelming at best and that is if and when it works. The Bad. Its Quicken there is nothing new that I hadn't had since Quicken 2012. Sure they add additional functionality with banks form time to time but this is definitely not worth the annual price tag.
The biggest feature Quicken hits on is the Mobile App. Again when it actually works it is adequate at best. But then again i can do everything on the App that I can on the Mint app. (which is also owned by Quicken but since been spun off as a separate company.)Would I recommend to a friend. Yes but only because there is no better option out there. If you need just the functions of the basic or deluxe edition you would be better served with using Mint as it does everything that both those editions do and is free.

The other two editions Premier and Home and Business are good, Home and Business users however would be better served with buying the premier edition and getting dedicated Business software for their business.(i.e. Quickbooks or Peachtree).
A software disc is a fragile object; to read the data on the disc, a laser must be able to shine through the clear plastic layer on the bottom of the disc to the reflective layer underneath. Optical disc drives have error-correction algorithms to prevent small scratches from rendering the data unreadable, but severe damage to the disc can destroy the data entirely. If your computer is unable to read a damaged disc and you do not have a backup copy, your only recourse is to obtain a replacement from the manufacturer, which can take several days.
If you lose a copy of a downloaded program file, you can download another copy without waiting. When a software company ships a title on disc, it incurs costs in manufacturing the physical items, such as the disc, the jewel case, the instruction manual and the box. It also incurs costs in shipping boxes to retailers. A software download requires no physical items and incurs no costs to the manufacturer aside from server bandwidth. Offering software as a digital download rather than a physical package can save the manufacturer a great deal of money. Manufacturers often pass a portion of these savings on to the consumer.
